What kind of collar should my dog wear?
Traditional webbing flat collars with a buckle have lots of great colors and patterns and are easy on/off. Martingale collars are popular no-slip solutions. And waterproof collars are great stink-proof options.
How to clean a dog collar?
First, you’ll want to shake off any dirt and debris. Then, you’ll hand wash the collar in warm water with mild soap and rinse thoroughly. Lastly, leave the collar out to air dry.
How should the collar fit on my dog?
For a perfect fit, ensure two fingers fit snugly between your dog’s neck and the collar. It should feel secure without restricting breathing. For martingale collars, the loop should only tighten slightly under pressure to prevent escape.
Should I use a collar or a harness?
There are reasons to have both in your dog’s kit! A collar is essential for ID tags, but harnesses can be better for walks. For non-pullers, a collar is fine. For dogs who pull, a harness is more comfortable and decreases pressure on their neck.
What other accessories should I use with my dog?
Enhance your adventures with Ruffwear gear! Ruffwear offers harnesses for comfortable walks, a variety of leashes for any activity, backpacks for carrying supplies, and dog boots to shield paws from rough terrain and hot pavement.

ESCAPE-PROOF SECURITY. ITW Nexus Airloc buckle with Tubelok webbing creates a secure lock that prevents collars slip-outs even during pulling or lunging, so you get peace of mind knowing your dog can’t break free and bolt into traffic and get lost.
REFLECTIVE NIGHT VISIBILITY. Integrated reflective strips and stitching makes your dog visible to cars in low-light conditions, so you can walk confidently at dawn or dusk knowing drivers will see you both coming.
COMFORTABLE ALL-DAY WEAR. 18% recycled Tubelok webbing with soft construction distributes pressure evenly without chafing, rubbing, or causing hot spots, so your dog stays comfortable all day, even during extended wear.
SECURE ADJUSTABLE FIT. Micro-adjustable sliding lock mechanism accommodates any neck size and locks tight so it won’t loosen during activity, giving you a perfect fit that stays put, whether your dog is a growing puppy or a strong puller.
SILENT ID ATTACHMENT. Separate ID attachment point and integrated tag silencer keeps identification secure while eliminating annoying jingling sounds, so you enjoy peaceful walks without constant noise.
